Emma's future
We took Maddie to the doctor the other day to check for the infamous ear infection. While there Emma said something she' s never said before. She said "When I grow up I want to be a doctor"
wow what a proud moment. Not sure why it evoked pride, maybe because it is a huge goal that our culture esteems as being better than something else. Anyway, we came home and told daddy about her new interest. Then he asked her why she chose this. "Oh", she says, while holding onto her candy cane from the doctor "because when i'm a doctor i'll give ALL the kids candy too!!!"
Oh yes, so proud.
The next day we were filling up at the gas station. Emma says to Jon, "Daddy when I grow up I want to be a gasser" A gasser? he asks "yeah" she says as she motions to the gas jockey filling up our vehicle.
Oh, so proud.

Hee hee. Hey, even "gassers" are a necessary part of the fabric of society. Just don't expect much financial support in your declining years!
I think that's terrific! My boys have no interest whatsoever in contributing to their community either now or in the future. They want to live at home with us forvever. Except when Matt's mad and wants a different mom an dad...
Maybe she'll be a anestheseologist. They are both doctors and gassers. ;}
Ron - haha!
That's neat to hear about Emma growing up and thinking about grown up things! How are you these days?
*lol@Ron*
That's great! Anneka has told me she wants to be "a girl who buries dead people" and "a mcdonalds worker"
I think it's amazing that Emma at this age is talking that way! Aila can't even string those kinda thoughts together!
I think emma is brilliant! Definately on her way to being a Doctor (or a Gasser!)
that's a great little story. :)
all isabel wants to be is a princess and a ballerina. oh, and be a mommy. but first, she says she needs to get her "boobies" and then get married.
miss hearing from you! we should chat soon...
I love how kids make up words like gasser. Keep those free flowing thought patterns going, Emma. Do not be constrained by our cultural desire to put you in a politically correct box. Let's all call them gassers. Forget gas station attendent/gas jockey/petroleum engineer.
Peace, love, power to the people, Emma.
Love from your hippy aunt,
Marsha
P.S. If you want to give out candy, stick with the doctor idea. Don't become a dentist. All they get to give out are toothbrushes & cheap toys.
I know Emma will do well at whatever she decides to do.
But it won't really matter will it? WHATEVER she is or does, you will always be so proud of her because she is YOURS! Your own Emma! Whether she's a gasser, or a doctor or a hair doer or whatever, she will make you proud.
Isn't parenting a trip?
